Yes, it’s that time of the year again when we have to suffer enjoy 5 months of hiatus from our favorite TV dramas and 5 months of reality summer TV. Now that no new episodes of The Vampire Diaries or Community will be shown ‘til forever, how about marathon some quality series? Catch up on these shows-you-should-be-watching-but-aren’t before Fall TV 2011 starts in September/October.
First on the Couch Patatas’ list: The Good Wife

The Good Wife has been a hit in the U.S. but I think it still hasn’t caught on here in the Philippines.

Background: The series focuses on Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies), whose husband Peter Florrick (Chris Noth), a former Cook County state’s attorney, has been jailed following a very public sex and corruption scandal. Alicia returns to her old job as a litigator (after taking years out to be a mother) in order to provide for her two children.

Why you should watch it: Great actors. Great writers. Great plot. Seriously, every one of the regular and recurring characters in the series are interesting and authentic. Margulies and Panjabi (Kalinda) are both AWESOME in their respective roles. (Panjabi won an Emmy and Margulies a Golden Globe!) Plus, even though the show’s a procedural, the writers make sure we don’t just see the same old formula we see in other law or cop shows. It’s drama, comedy and procedural all rolled into one legendary show. Also, watch out for Eli (Alan Cumming) and some major plot twists in the 2nd season! (which ends May 17).
